FUNDRAISING UPDATES!

We Need You!!

Raising funds and maintaining the lights is a worthwhile but time consuming

task, and we would love your help!!

If you can offer any time or skills to help the committee organise fundraising,

join working parties or manage the 'business' of running the committee

you would be most welcome!

Please get in touch with any member of the committee (see below),

or email on info@porthlevenlights.co.uk

The Porthleven Lights

For many years members of Porthleven's close knit community have worked hard to create and maintain lighting displays around the harbour, to enhance the natural beauty of Britain's most southerly port. This work goes on and we need your help to ensure that it is able to continue!

Porthleven lights are maintained by donations and fund raising activities, organised by a committee of volunteers. It costs between £2000 and £2500 per year to maintain the lighting displays and pay the electricity bills.

The Lights committee receives no income from the County Council or the National Lottery. Fundraising opportunities include auctions, coffee mornings, and raffles and also a number of collection boxes sited at various points within the town.

The light displays are used at several different times throughout the year:

Christmas (from approx December 8th to 12th night).

Summer (Spring Bank Holiday to approx 5th September).

Easter (Good Friday for approx 3 weeks).

and several other festive days.

Please have a look at the information below, especially the details of upcoming fundraising events, and if you feel you would like to help us in our efforts we will warmly welcome any contribution you can make.

The Committee

The Porthleven Lights Committee organise the maintenance and fundraising efforts to keep the lighting displays viable from year to year. Maintaining sometimes delicate electrical equipment in Cornwall's maritime climate can be a tricky and expensive affair, although the cost of running the displays is the main drain on funds. However, we believe that the effort is fully worthwhile to help ensure that residents and visitors alike can appreciate how special a place Porthleven is.

Below is a list of the main contacts for the committee. If you want to contact us by email, send a message to:
